Madrid, España/ El ministro de Turismo, Francisco Javier García, afirmó en Fitur que en la trigésima octava Feria Internacional de Turismo (Fitur) ha recibido propuestas para la construcción de 29,000 habitaciones hoteleras en el país, de las cuales 9,000 se levantarían en Pedernales
En una rueda de prensa celebrada en el stand de República Dominicana en Fitur 2018, el funcionario consideró que el país está en un momento espectacular en el campo turístico.
Resaltó que en su gestión de nueve años al frente del Ministerio de Turismo nunca había tenido tantas reuniones como ha ocurrido en la actual feria con empresarios e inversionistas interesados en desarrollar nuevos proyectos en el país.
Explicó que son proyectos que estarán depositando la próxima semana en el Ministerio de Turismo.
Expresó que en los encuentros con los inversionistas lo primero que sale a relucir es felicitar al país por el clima de inversión que existe y la confianza que tienen de hacer esas inversiones en la República Dominicana.
“Esos inversionistas sienten confianza de invertir en la RD y felicitan, además, por las inversiones en infraestructura que se han hecho en los últimos años”, dijo.
Explicó que Pedernales es manejado por una comisión que dirige el ministro de la Presidencia, Gustavo Montalvo.
Indicó que un empresario español tiene interés de invertir en Pedernales, quien está a la espera de ser llamado por el Gobierno para iniciar la construcción de 9,000 habitaciones hoteleras.
Resaltó que los turoperadores le manifestaron la seguridad que sienten los turistas que ellos manejan y, por tanto, sienten que la República Dominicana es un destino seguro para que los visitantes internacionales puedan seguir visitando al país.
El funcionario expresó que este año aumentará el presupuesto para la promoción turística de la República Dominicana.
Recordó que ese presupuesto se había mantenido congelado en los últimos años, pero para el 2018 tiene un incremento de 15 millones de dólares.

In a press conference held at the Dominican Republic stand in Fitur 2018, the official considered that the country is at a spectacular moment in the tourist field.
He stressed that in his nine-year tenure as head of the Ministry of Tourism, he had never had as many meetings as has happened at the current fair with businessmen and investors interested in developing new projects in the country. He explained that they are projects that will be depositing next week in the Ministry of Tourism.
He said that in the meetings with investors the first thing that comes out is to congratulate the country for the investment climate that exists and the confidence they have in making these investments in the Dominican Republic.
“These investors are confident of investing in the DR and also congratulate for the investments in infrastructure that have been made in recent years,” he said.
He explained that Pedernales is managed by a commission led by the Minister of the Presidency, Gustavo Montalvo.
He indicated that a Spanish businessman has an interest in investing in Pedernales, who is waiting to be called by the Government to start the construction of 9,000 hotel rooms.
He stressed that the tour operators showed him the security felt by the tourists they drive and, therefore, feel that the Dominican Republic is a safe destination for international visitors to continue visiting the country.
The official said that this year will increase the budget for tourism promotion of the Dominican Republic. He recalled that this budget had remained frozen in recent years, but by 2018 it has an increase of 15 million dollars.
